My Story:

I have always been active my whole life, involved in various sports from soccer ,  gymnastics to rodeo.  After I finished high school I got lazy and gained quite a bit of weight. I was still working out (lots cardio) and my eating habits were not healthy at all. There came a point when my jeans were too tight to button up and that was a turning point to change my life around.  I didn’t understand why I wasn’t skinny anymore. Looking back I know that it was from doing massive amounts of cardio with no weight training and a horrible diet. One day while working out at the gym I saw a woman working out..I was in awe..she was lean, strong, toned and beautiful. I asked her what she does to look that way with the perfect amount of muscle and tone. She told me she was getting ready for a figure show. I had no idea what she was talking about. ..she briefly explained what it was all about. At that point I decided I wanted a body like that. And I knew I wanted to compete! I wanted to know what it felt like to be that lean and how hard I could actually push myself to that level.

My first show was the NPC Gold’s Classic on October 11, 2008. I trained so hard for this show and ate so clean for 12 weeks straight. I loved the whole contest prep journey and the entire experience at the show. I was so excited and I knew I was hooked. I didn’t end up placing in the top 5 at that show, but it was the best learning experience! Since that show I have competed 3 more times..and placed at each one!!!!

After training for all my shows I know now that I want to make a career out of this and make my name in the fitness industry to inspire others to achieve their goals. I never want to get back to the “old” me.  My diet and training is now my lifestyle and I will continue to do so..but trust me I do allow myself to have a few treats and rewards here and there when I am not pre contest.

I am now qualified to compete at a National level and I feel like things can only go uphill from here. I can’t wait to get on a National stage and compete with the best of the best and one day soon to have the pro card!!!!

    Hi Kat,

Thanks for getting back with me on the POLAR! I love your blog! You are a huge inspiration and I’m ready to kick my butt into high gear. I’ve started and stopped so many times but now I’m ready to go. I don’t want to compete but I would like to get into rock hard shape. I love picking figure gurus brains…Where would you suggest I start?
